Different ways to filter emergency water to help you survive during an economic collapse situation. In reference to emergency water, I am going to discuss ways you can filter or make water drinkable during troubled times or in event of a survival emergency. Preparing emergency water is extremely important to your survival and is a good addition to your survival skills. This article is intended to help you survive during trouble times, since water is one of the most vital elements for survival since during the troubled economic times you may not have water treatment services that you normally take for granted. I will discuss each method of filtering or treating emergency water and situatons below and will list each method individually.
If you still have access to a large amount of emergency water, the best method is water chlorination. This method is extremely easy to implement, but it assumes that you already have access to unlimited, untreated water. If a water treatment plant is left abandoned there will still be water but the water won’t be treated for drinking purposes. If you have access to water just make sure you have plenty of containers to store your emergency water in and just add couple of drops of chlorine per gallon of water and leave it for 24 hours before consuming it. You want to leave it long enough to kill all the bacteria that may be contaminating the water.
If you are in a situation where you are traveling or camped out somewhere and have access to natural water sources such as waterfalls, creeks or lakes, then the best way to ensure that you have clean water to drink is to use water tablets. Water tablets can be found at your local camping store such as REI, Dick's Sporting Goods, Bass Pro Shops, or other sporting shops. All you have to do is put a tiny little tablet in your water bottle and wait 2-4 hours before you drink it. Make sure to follow instructions that comes with the tablets as each brand might have different requirements for the waiting period. You could even ask the sales reps at REI, Dick's etc if you are in doubt or need help with your purchase. Usually though, purchasing these items online is cheaper, but that's entirely up to you!
The survival water filtration methods I’ve discussed are the ones I personally would implement under those survival situations if you really need emergency water in desperate situations, but if you get really creative there could be a bunch more. This is to give you some very general ways to prepare yourself for the possible "water emergency" scenarios. I know we take water for granted most of the time because it’s provided to use without us doing anything other than paying for our utilities. I am sure if the collapse does happen and we do indeed need "emergency water" sources, we will view water very differently along with everything else we took for granted in life.
